Recap of Agriculture Safety Day 2021

The 17th Annual (and first virtual) Agriculture Safety Days (ASD) is specifically geared to hazards faced by agriculture workers. This year we were unable to gather in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but that did not keep people from attending several different workshops, all offered in English and Spanish. We wrapped up with over 325 people gathering online to learn, and share valuable workplace experiences that will help workers stay safe and return home when the work day is done.

One of the biggest highlights was the “highest ever” attended workshop at an ASD event, the “Panel Discussion on Leadership”. This session collected a diverse group of Pacific Northwest agriculture professionals who shared their unique paths to leadership within the industry. A great big shout out to Luisa Castro, Fabiola Gonzalez, Jacqui Gordon Nunez, Victor Bueno, Eladio Gonzales, Pedro Serrano, and the Moderator, Christian Ramirez. We look forward to continuing this conversation again at future events, and when it’s safe to gather in person again.

A special THANK YOU goes out to the event sponsors, Washington Farm Bureau, G.S. Long Company, Pacific Northwest Agriculture Safety & Health Center (PNASH) and Ag Supply Company. With your continued support, we were able to provide a low cost event with some great prizes to lucky winners.

If you are interested in participating in the planning of future Agriculture Safety Days please contact Conference Staff for more information.

This event is just one of many hosted by the Governor’s Industrial Safety & Health Advisory Board in partnership with the Dept. of Labor and Industries.

Together we are working to Educate Workers, to Stay Safe & Working, and continue to make Washington one of safest states to work in.
