2020 Construction Safety Scholarship Recipient

Joe Jokonya was the recipient of the 2020 Construction Safety Scholarship. Due to the cancellation Construction Safety Day, we awarded Joe the scholarship by mail but will recognize him at the 2021 Construction Safety Day.

He is a student at Central Washington University and will graduate in 20201 with a Bachelors Degree in Safety and Health Engineering, with a minor in Construction Management.

I am so grateful to have received the GISHAB scholarship. I was able to pay for my schooling and books which led me to focus more on my studies. Not only am I grateful for the scholarship, I am thankful that I have added a great resource like GISHAB to my growing profession. When I graduate from Central Washington University this year, I hope to participate more with GISHAB, and be a resource to others as they have been for me. Thank you again. GO WILDCATS!

Every year the Board provides a $1,250 scholarship to assist an eligible student in furthering their education in construction safety and/or occupational safety and health. The Construction Planning Committee is responsible for reviewing all applications and determining the recipient based on qualifications. If you are interested in getting involved next year or helping us promote this through your organization please reach out to our conference staff.
