The 14th Annual Agriculture Safety Day events continued to show growing interest in workplace safety and health. Collectively, Yakima and Wenatchee hosted 653 workers who share in the mission of worker safety and prevention.

Attendees received critical safety and health information on subjects like Hearing Protection and Eyewash Basics, Heat Related Illness, Excavation and Trenching, Community Trauma Care and Violent Intruder Response. Some classes also qualified for Pesticide Recertification Credits, such as Sprayer Calibration and Worker Protection Standards. Most of the classes were provided in both English and Spanish.

Several exhibitors were on display to provide hands on demonstrations of their products and services available. Honeywell, Oxarc and National Safety displayed a lot of life saving personal protective equipment and safety tools. Organizations such as the Washington Farm Bureau, OIC of Washington, Employment Security’s WorkSource and The Dept. of Labor and Industries had information and staff on hand to promote all the services they provide to business and the workers of Washington

Once again a special THANK YOU goes out to the event sponsors, Washington Farm Bureau and Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) of Washington for their partnership in ensuring workers return home safe.
